 Where are you?
« Result #1 on Nov 15, 2009, 11:46pm »

Hi Mick and Alison

What has gone on Boaters Beach is not the same without you guys around. I refuse to believe you have voluntarily left. When we spoke a few weeks back you were absolutely buzzing. Something just isn't right and the stories and newpaper articles look like a massive smokescreen to me. I hear Tom is not playing either at our festive night. Can someone post what is going at our favourite place we miss you so much. :(

Quite a few years back, around 2004, I did a lot of photography for Mick at night outside the restaurant. I am very pleased to see that a few of these images are still being used on the website. I hope that the restaurant is still going strong and is still very popular. At the time I did the photography, Mick had only just fairly recently opened but it certainly did look as though it was going to be a success.

I am now living in Pickering, North Yorkshire where I own a photographic gallery and florist with my new partner Janet. I continue to sell my distinctive monochrome works through my own gallery and also The Art Bar, Cleethorpes but now work digitally rather than with film.

I would like to wish everyone associated with the Beach Restauant a very happy and successful future.

Hi

We have had 7 christenings so far and all have been very lucky with the weather. The feedback has been great. This is an E mail from Last Sunday's occassion

Hi Mick

Just a quick note to say “Thanks” for making Ila’s blessing day perfect. Everything was just great, everyone commented on how lovely the food was, it was beautiful.

And I think her name was Bernie? She was fab, very helpful and spot on.

Thanks again.

Sam

WELL DONE BERNIE with also thanks to Lizz who supported and Craig who did the buffett

I hate it when people do this. Well Gaynor your credibilty for recommending a good place to go has been shot dead. If you are going to slag off a restaurant which could affect them, at least give a fair reflection. We were also at Boaters that night. You say you didn't get you meal until 1020 but what sort of person eats it up in record time and then goes online slags a restaurant off at 1044pm the same night. You sad person, and waiting one hour for a starter without saying anything. Wakey wakey, they would have cleared the problem straight away, it was a very busy night and we waited 45 minutes for the mains but the music and atmosphere most definitely compensated for that.

"NEVER AGAIN AND DO NOT GO THERE IF YOU WANT A GOOD MEAL ON TIME" what drivel!!! We were there on saturday. I have never been in a restaurant in this area with such a brilliant busy atmosphere. So they made a couple of mistakes in service but the food was excellent. I think it is clear it is Gaynor who was unreasonable. Most restaurants wouldn't even bother about you and it is clear they did try and please you and you throw that comment back in their faces. I am protecting Mick and Alison of course because I know the effort they go to to ensure people have a great time.....but you can't please everyone. Personally I wouldn't have even bother replying!!!

Oh dear...this is unusual for us really and having had a very friendly chat with you husband at the counter I was under the impression you maybe had a sense of humour and after extra drinks was ok. Clearly the 1oclock comment was based on the relationship we had formed in the time we were chatting. It was a purposely over exaggerated comment that was taken totally in the wrong context. I am always a happy guy and I’m sorry. You husband is a very reasonable guy just as I am, but my comments were certainly not meant to offend. Your husband told me that he loved this placed and always enjoyed his past visits, it would seem silly to advertise to all an sundry that you are never coming again when you enjoy it here normally and the same problem is unlikely to happen ever again. I agreed with him that I would have been equally miffed when wanting my guests to enjoy themselves. I told you the reason why the delay was on the starters, that’s not an excuse it is the reason. There were 120 guests in that night and we put on great live music for people to enjoy and all meals are 2 for 1. The reason why we are full every week is because it is a dam n good night and 90% of guests are great and love it. The other 10% well we do c ock up sometimes but we are only human just as all other restaurants and service businesses are only human. You complain that you didn’t receive you mains until 10.20 after eating starters at 9.40. Once we has realised our error the meals were done in normal time, if you wanted to change your order we would have done that with pleasure

I am not that desperate that I have to have people moaning about paying £70 for meals and starters for 4 including drinks that they didn't enjoy. That is rare in this restaurant. I put on a show with live entertainment that is desperately needed in this town. I told your husband my name was Mick and that I owned the business and in addition to a second set of free drinks he only has to ring me personally and you can have a meal on me as compensation with a nice sea view. That was because I liked his attitude and you deserved it. Something that with respect your husband maybe has omitted to tell you.

Overall, I think your “never again” comments are harsh. You lose a very good place to be entertained and I lose a good customer..nobody wins but in my defence I was very fair without grovelling, and I don’t hide from comments on this board when I could easily delete them. You are still very welcome to call me and I hope you do but my conscience is clear and how I dealt with the problem.

Finally, Rich T next Friday he’s brilliant…2 for 1 menu try us and see for yourself as it is not always good to take other peoples opinion you may miss out on a great night.

Have a great day

Mick and Alison

I would like to say that myself and my husband took some friends who had travelled to cleethorpes for a stay to boaters tonight for a meal (1st Aug) with a table booked for 8.30 and we finally got our starters at 9.40 at night. They apologised several times for the delay and offered us a free round of drinks but we still didnt get our main meal unitl 10.20 at night and by then the we really didnt want "mixed grills" which apparantly the order had been lost. But do you know all of that would have been bearable but the owner then came over and offer us sweets by "1 oclock" in the morning which in my book really was not funny. We feel that we were taken for idiots and then charged £70 and like true brits we paid it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER AGAIN AND DO NOT GO THERE IF YOU WANT A GOOD MEAL ON TIME

Hi

Although I'm proud of all the staff that work for me I think it is clear that a special few words in lights must be given to Simon for the way he looked after some of our guests from Manchester last Sunday. Well Done.

This is a copy of the email from the party of 25:

We visited Boaters Beach on Sunday 11 January 09 to celebrate the birthday of my mum Laura McNally. Mum was celebrating her seventy fifth birthday and wanted to get the family together for sunday lunch. As this was the first significant family get together since Dad died we were all a little apprehensive about the occasion.

We need not have worried at all, the attention and hospitality given by the young man who looked after us was absolutely second to none, the food was marvellous and we all enjoyed ourselves, the two three year olds in our party were made very welcome as was the young baby. The majority of us had travelled from Manchester and returned home that day having enjoyed a wonderful meal and brilliant surroundings and service.

Thank you so much

Anne Butterworth and family

Hi Everyone

In all the time we have been open we have turned down a multitude of requests for Christening parties at Boaters Beach due to Sunday being our busiest day and we were unable to do them.

I'm pleased to annouce that from April 2009 we will be able to accomodate christening celebrations in our NEW and Fabulous conservatory. The unique views of the estuary from the massive windows are spectacular and you can have a nice bite to eat buffet style aswell.

We expect a big demand considering how many we have turned away last year so please let us know as soon as you have your plans . You can ring me personally for any function booking for the conservatory or the restauramt. My number is 07803 183 239

Best Regards

Mick

Boaters Beach Newsletter Nov 08 + FREE PRIZE DRAW
« Result #14 on Nov 21, 2008, 1:39am »

Hi Everyone

First of all we have a prize draw for 4 tickets to one of our brilliant festive nights - Details are at the end of this newsletter, and the prize is valued at just over £111.

We have a few excellent nights planned over the next week starting with Friday’s (TONIGHT) Gentle Jazz night. Due to the start of the festive season I decided to have the end of month Jazz Night a week early, but despite some frantic marketing, I might have made a mistake as for a night that is normally well attended, we have just 10 booked in which makes things quite difficult. So if you are not doing anything special we would love to see you but please book as we can then gauge the amount of food to put on. You can email me if you wish for this great value night out that’s cheaper than eating at home.

The poor attendance cannot be said for the next night (SATURDAY) though when we have a double bill of entertainment that sees Rich T back after going down so well last time he was here. We also have Steve Everett performing for the first part of the evening. Steve is one of the most accomplished guitarist around and he will play fingerstlye throughout the meal. Fingerstlye is when it seems like more that one person is playing. This night was full until recently but we have had one or two cancellations so there is space if anyone would like a great “Saturday Night live” with a very nice set menu..

Menu is here:

http://www.boatersbeach.co.uk/Very%20Special%20Nights.htm

If you haven’t heard Rich T before go to the link below turn the volume up and see him perform.....he’s exceptional.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8dzKrULFNss

Tom Weston is back…and we are welcoming him home with a Fish and Chip supper this coming Thursday. I cannot wait to see him perform. Many of you may not be aware that he is a very accomplished pianist and it seems that this talent has been perfected whilst away on the Royal Caribbean. He has some new routines and will be playing on the piano in some of them. This night is a one off performance which is different to festive so I hope you will all come and welcome him back.. Such was his success on the world’s premier cruise liner, he was asked to stay longer but due to family and of course his committment to our festive nights he declined..thank god!!! They have asked him to tour Europe next year and he leaves in May 2009.

Please don’t forget us during December if you want a lovely xmas dinner during the day. We have a festive winter warmer menu which is at the link below. This menu is great for a working lunch with a great view.

http://www.boatersbeach.co.uk/Xmas%20Lunch.htm

I’m sorry but there are no places left for our New Year Gala firework night. It has been full for some time but if any of you are around at New Year our piper plays to the firework display at Midnight so why not take a walk down the sea front. Some festive places are now available thanks to some "nice" people cancelling. I have to say it is very frustrating when people book in numbers and then cancel preventing people who wanted to come before they booked their second choice elsewhere. Those of you who are coming to the festive please please don’t forget about my staff. They work so hard and whilst many are happy to give a gratuity to the taxi driver on the way home (and I’ve no complaints about that) many just walk out and forget the running around they have done.

Finally, all the people that I told could use the new conservatory this Christmas can I apologise yet again. It is so distressing to let people down but it is out of my hands. The building has not been passed by the inspectors and as things stand I have nearly lost faith that it will ever get handed to us. I really hope I’m wrong because it is potentially a fantastic addition which will secure our future, and the view from it is spectacular. Lets pray it everything gets sorted.

Anyway, please pop in and say hello and in the meantime Alison and I wish you a very happy festive season and if you need anything please don’t hesitate to ring me personally.

Mick and Alison

Having visited Boaters Beach Restaurant for many years with the whole family mainly on a Sunday afternoon for the extraordinary, Sunday Lunch we decided for our 5th Wedding Anniversary to pay the Restaurant a visit for an evening to celebrate. What an evening it was the food as always was just fantastic and to be very honest we have paid much more in other establishments for far less quality.

The entertainment from Rich T was just breath taking; For a Solo Artist of his age to have so much talent was astounding. His repertoire for the performance was songs by Neil Diamond, Tom Jones, Frank Sinatra, The Driffters and Many More keep up the great work Rich T.

I have to thank Mick and Alison as well for providing such a warm and entertaining venue as well as to all of the staff at Boaters Beach for there service over the years you always make everyone feel so welcome.

A Special Thank You has to be given to Ken who does his very best to cater for every single visitor’s needs what a character with his vibrant charisma and especially his out of this world deserts.

Hi Guys

It is nice that we are now getting a fab reputation for putting on great food and the finest entertaiment in the area. Anyone who has not yet sampled the brilliance of Leroy Vickers, Mike Cane and Tom Weston, together with fine Jazz and swing bands appearing regularly, must come and pay us a visit. Tonight we were entertained by a new young artiste that simple brought the house down. His name was Rich T and I just didn't think our Saturday night live could get any better but the sheer charisma of this guy left me rushing to book him again. A stunning voice that left everyone wanting more.

Check us out regularly he will appear again in october.
